What is a Floral Attar?

A floral attar (also called attar flower, flower attar, or phool attar) is a concentrated, oil-based natural perfume in which the dominant fragrance character is drawn from floral sources, roses, jasmine, mogra (Arabian jasmine), marigold, tuberose, lotus, lavender, or blended multi-floral compositions. Floral attars are made through traditional hydro-distillation or enfleurage methods, in which the volatile aromatic compounds of fresh flowers are drawn into a carrier oil, typically pure sandalwood oil (in classical Indian attar making) or a natural non-synthetic oil base.
