Buy essential oils online from Kashmirica and experience what pure really means.

What Are Pure Essential Oils, and Why Does Purity Matter?

Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic extracts obtained from plant material, flowers, leaves, bark, roots, fruit peel, or resin, through steam distillation, cold pressing, or CO2 extraction. The result is a concentrated liquid that contains the plant’s primary aromatic and bioactive compounds in a fraction of the volume of the original plant material. This concentration is what makes essential oils so potent, and why they must almost always be diluted with a carrier oil before skin application.

The purity question is where most of the essential oil market fails consumers. Genuinely pure essential oils are expensive to produce: the raw material requirements are substantial (it takes approximately 250kg of lavender flowers to produce 1 litre of lavender essential oil, 4,500kg of rose petals for 1 litre of rose absolute), the distillation process requires precision, and adulteration at any stage is difficult to detect without lab testing. As a result, the vast majority of ‘essential oils’ sold in India and globally are either significantly diluted with synthetic fragrance compounds, extended with cheap carrier oils, or entirely synthetic.

Kashmirica sells only what is genuinely pure and natural. Our essential oils contain nothing beyond what is stated on the label, the extracted oil of the plant, and nothing else. No synthetic fragrance compounds, no petrochemical extenders, no artificial colour or stabilisers.

What Makes Kashmirica’s Essential Oils Different?

  • 100% pure and undiluted: every oil is sold in its concentrated extracted form, not pre-diluted in a carrier. This gives you maximum control over dilution ratios for your specific use
  • No synthetic additives: we sell the plant extract only, no fragrance chemicals, no chemical preservatives, no synthetic stabilisers added at any stage
  • The Kashmiri saffron oil advantage: our collection includes saffron essential oil sourced from Kashmiri Crocus sativus, one of the rarest and most therapeutically valuable oils available anywhere. No other essential oil brand in India leads with this
  • Third-party quality-tested: our oils are tested for purity and potency before being listed, we do not list oils that fail our quality standards
  • Rated 5-star across the range: our saffron oil, lavender oil, and tea tree oil each carry a perfect 5-star rating from verified purchasers
  • Priced honestly: premium-quality essential oils at prices that reflect fair sourcing, not inflated brand margins

Our Essential Oil Collection, Every Oil Explained

Kashmiri Saffron Oil, The Crown Jewel

Kashmiri saffron oil (also known as kesar oil or saffron essential oil) is the most distinctive and precious oil in our collection, extracted from the stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower grown in the GI-tagged saffron fields of Pampore, Kashmir. It is one of the rarest and most expensive natural oils in the world: the same extraordinary scarcity that makes saffron threads the world’s costliest spice also applies to its extracted oil, which requires vast quantities of hand-harvested stigmas to produce.

Saffron oil is rich in crocin, crocetin, and safranal, the three primary bioactive compounds of saffron, in their most concentrated, bioavailable oil-soluble form. It has been used in Kashmiri and broader South Asian beauty traditions for centuries as a skin brightening and nourishing oil.

  • Saffron oil for skin: traditionally used as a natural skin brightening agent, crocin and crocetin have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that support radiant, even skin tone
  • Saffron oil for face: 1–2 drops added to your moisturiser or face oil deliver the skin-brightening properties of kesar in a highly bioavailable form
  • Kesar oil for hair: saffron oil scalp massage is used in Kashmiri tradition to nourish hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth
  • Aromatherapy: the distinctive honey-floral-earthy aroma of pure saffron oil has documented mood-supporting and anxiolytic properties via inhalation

Rated 5 stars. Every batch sourced directly from Kashmir’s Pampore saffron fields.

Rosemary Oil, For Hair, Mind, and Memory

Rosemary essential oil (Rosmarinus officinalis) is one of the most researched and widely used essential oils globally, a pungent, camphor-edged, deeply herbaceous oil with an extraordinary range of evidence-backed applications. Its use for hair growth has become particularly prominent in recent clinical research, with studies showing rosemary oil comparable to minoxidil (the pharmaceutical standard) for hair density improvement with significantly fewer side effects.

  • Rosemary oil for hair: the most thoroughly researched application, applied diluted to the scalp, rosemary oil improves microcirculation in hair follicles, extends the anagen (growth) phase, and has been shown in randomised controlled trials to increase hair count and density over 6 months
  • Rosemary oil for scalp: anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties address scalp conditions including dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and scalp irritation
  • Rosemary oil for skin: antioxidant compounds (rosmarinic acid, carnosic acid) protect skin from environmental oxidative stress, supports firming and anti-ageing effects
  • Cognitive function and memory: rosemary oil inhalation has been studied for its effects on alertness and memory, the camphor and 1,8-cineole compounds in rosemary cross the blood-brain barrier via inhalation, with measurable effects on cognitive performance in several studies
  • Circulation and muscle recovery: diluted rosemary oil massage improves local blood circulation and is used for muscle soreness, stiff joints, and post-exercise recovery

For rosemary oil hair use: dilute 3–4 drops in 2 tablespoons of coconut or castor oil, massage gently into the scalp, leave for 30–60 minutes, then shampoo. Use 2–3 times per week for sustained results over 3–6 months.

Lavender Oil, The Universal Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia) is the most studied and most versatile essential oil in existence, a mild, floral-herbaceous oil that is the entry point for most people’s essential oil journey and the one oil that truly earns its reputation across multiple application categories.

  • Lavender oil for sleep: the most documented non-pharmaceutical sleep support available, inhalation of lavender oil before sleep has been shown in multiple clinical studies to reduce sleep latency, increase sleep duration, and improve sleep quality, the compound linalool has direct GABAergic sedative activity
  • Lavender oil for skin: anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and wound-healing properties make lavender oil one of the most effective natural treatments for minor burns, cuts, insect bites, acne lesions, and dry skin patches, one of the few essential oils considered gentle enough for careful direct skin application in small amounts
  • Lavender oil for anxiety and stress: inhalation of lavender aroma significantly reduces subjective anxiety and physiological stress markers in clinical studies, used in aromatherapy diffusers, bedside application, and personal inhalers
  • Lavender oil for hair: calming scalp inflammation, addressing dandruff, and supporting hair growth via improved scalp condition and circulation
  • Lavender oil for headaches: diluted lavender oil applied to the temples and back of the neck is a well-documented natural approach to tension headache relief

Lavender oil is one of the most safe essential oils for topical use, though dilution is still recommended for sensitive skin. A few drops on a pillowcase or in a diffuser before sleep is the simplest and most evidence-backed way to use it.

Tea Tree Oil, Nature’s Antimicrobial

Tea tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) is the most clinically validated essential oil for skin conditions, a powerful, slightly medicinal-smelling oil with broad-spectrum antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory activity that has been documented in hundreds of peer-reviewed studies.

  • Tea tree oil for acne: the most evidence-backed natural acne treatment available, tea tree oil at 5% concentration has been shown in randomised controlled trials to be as effective as 5% benzoyl peroxide for acne reduction, with significantly fewer side effects (dryness, peeling)
  • Tea tree oil for skin: antifungal activity against Candida and dermatophytes makes tea tree oil effective for nail fungus, athlete’s foot, and fungal skin infections
  • Tea tree oil for scalp: antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties address scalp dandruff (Malassezia-driven seborrheic dermatitis), folliculitis, and general scalp irritation
  • Tea tree oil for wounds: natural antiseptic for minor cuts, scrapes, and insect bites, kills a broad spectrum of bacteria and reduces inflammation around wound sites
  • Tea tree oil for household use: diluted tea tree oil is an effective natural surface disinfectant and mould inhibitor, particularly useful in bathrooms and kitchens

Important: tea tree oil must always be diluted before skin application. Never ingest. Keep away from pets (toxic to cats and dogs). Despite being one of the most tolerated topical essential oils, patch testing before full application is always recommended.

Lemongrass Oil, Refresh, Detox, and Energise

Lemongrass essential oil (Cymbopogon citratus) is a bright, citrus-grassy oil with a clean, sharp, uplifting aroma and a well-established set of wellness applications. Its primary compound, citral, gives lemongrass its characteristic scent and most of its therapeutic properties.

  • Lemongrass oil for aromatherapy: the most energising and uplifting oil in our collection, inhalation reduces mental fatigue, improves focus, and lifts mood. A classic ‘morning’ diffuser oil for an energised start to the day
  • Lemongrass oil for skin: antimicrobial and astringent properties make it effective for oily skin control, pore minimising, and preventing bacterial skin infections, particularly good for acne-prone back and body skin
  • Lemongrass oil as a natural insect repellent: citral has documented mosquito and insect repellent activity, diluted lemongrass oil applied to skin or diffused in a room provides natural insect protection
  • Lemongrass oil for muscle pain: anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, diluted lemongrass oil massage relieves muscle soreness, cramps, and minor joint pain
  • Lemongrass oil for hair: reduces excess scalp oil, controls dandruff, and adds a clean, fresh fragrance to hair care routines
  • Digestive support: lemongrass has traditional use as a carminative (anti-bloating) herb, the oil used in abdominal massage with a carrier oil may help relieve gas and bloating

Eucalyptus Oil, Clear, Breathe, and Recover

Eucalyptus essential oil (Eucalyptus globulus) is the most famous respiratory-support essential oil in existence, a sharp, camphorous, intensely cooling oil whose primary compound, 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), is the active ingredient in numerous pharmaceutical cold and chest rubs, inhalers, and decongestants. The difference between those products and Kashmirica’s eucalyptus oil is that ours is the pure plant extract, no petroleum base, no synthetic additives, just the oil.

  • Eucalyptus oil for cold and congestion: the defining application, inhalation of eucalyptus oil (via steam, diffuser, or direct inhalation) opens nasal passages, relieves sinus congestion, and soothes respiratory irritation. 1,8-cineole acts directly on mucus membranes to reduce secretions and ease breathing
  • Eucalyptus oil for chest congestion: diluted eucalyptus oil applied to the chest (1–2 drops in coconut or olive oil) provides the same effect as commercial chest rubs, warming, decongestant, and anti-inflammatory
  • Eucalyptus oil for muscle and joint pain: anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, diluted eucalyptus oil massage relieves muscle soreness, arthritis pain, and post-exercise stiffness
  • Eucalyptus oil for air purification: powerful antimicrobial and antifungal activity makes eucalyptus oil an effective diffuser oil for purifying indoor air, particularly in sick rooms or during respiratory illness seasons
  • Eucalyptus oil for skin: cooling and anti-inflammatory, used diluted for minor skin irritations, insect bites, and as a component in homemade balms and body scrubs

Essential Oils for Hair, What the Research Shows

Hair is one of the most searched applications for essential oils, and the evidence base is stronger than most people realise:

  • Rosemary oil for hair growth: a 2015 randomised controlled trial in Skinmed journal found rosemary oil statistically equivalent to 2% minoxidil for hair count improvement over 6 months, with better scalp itch tolerance. A more recent 2023 study on rosemary oil in androgenetic alopecia confirmed these findings. Rosemary’s mechanism is improved scalp microcirculation and DHT-pathway modulation
  • Lavender oil for hair: a 2016 study in Toxicological Research found lavender oil applied topically increased the number of hair follicles, deepened follicle depth, and thickened the dermal layer compared to control in animal models. Anti-inflammatory properties address scalp conditions that impede hair growth
  • Tea tree oil for scalp: eliminates Malassezia (the yeast responsible for dandruff), reduces scalp inflammation, and unblocks hair follicles, creating better conditions for healthy hair growth
  • Lemongrass oil for dandruff: a 2015 study found lemongrass oil at 10% concentration in a hair tonic significantly reduced dandruff after 1 week of use
  • Saffron oil for hair: used in Kashmiri and Persian hair care traditions to nourish the scalp and strengthen hair, crocin’s antioxidant activity may protect follicles from oxidative stress

How to make a hair oil blend with Kashmirica’s essential oils: 3 drops rosemary + 2 drops lavender + 1 drop tea tree in 30ml coconut oil. Massage into scalp, leave for 45 minutes minimum, shampoo out. Use 2–3 times per week.

Essential Oils for Skin, Application Guide

  • Never apply undiluted to skin: all essential oils require dilution in a carrier oil before skin contact. The recommended dilution for facial application is 1% (1 drop per teaspoon of carrier oil). Body application: 2–3% (2–3 drops per teaspoon)
  • Carrier oils to use with Kashmirica’s essential oils: for face, jojoba, argan, squalane, or rosehip seed oil. For body and hair, coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, or Kashmirica’s walnut oil
  • Saffron oil for skin brightening: 1 drop in your daily moisturiser or face oil, apply morning and/or evening. The crocin in saffron oil targets melanin production pathways for gradual brightening
  • Tea tree oil for spot treatment: dilute 1 drop in 1 teaspoon of carrier oil and apply directly to acne lesions with a cotton bud, do not apply to entire face undiluted
  • Lavender oil for skin repair: dilute and apply to minor burns, cuts, bites, and dry patches, one of the most tolerated essential oils for topical use
  • Rosemary oil for anti-ageing: dilute in face oil and use as a daily facial serum, antioxidant compounds protect against environmental skin damage
  • Always patch test: apply a diluted drop to the inner arm and wait 24 hours before full application. Even natural oils can cause reactions in sensitive skin

How to Use Essential Oils, Complete Guide

Aromatherapy Diffusion

Add 5–10 drops of essential oil to a water-based ultrasonic diffuser. Run for 30–60 minutes in a closed or semi-closed room. Best oils for diffusion from our range: lavender (sleep/relaxation), lemongrass (energy/focus), eucalyptus (respiratory/air purifying), rosemary (concentration/memory). Do not diffuse in rooms with pets, particularly cats (many essential oils are toxic to cats via inhalation).

Steam Inhalation

Add 3–5 drops to a bowl of steaming (not boiling) water. Place a towel over your head, lean over the bowl, and inhale slowly for 5–10 minutes. This is the most effective method for respiratory applications, particularly eucalyptus for cold and congestion, or lemongrass for sinus clearing. Keep eyes closed during steam inhalation.

Topical Application (Diluted)

Mix 1–3 drops of essential oil with 1 teaspoon (5ml) of carrier oil. Apply to pulse points, sore muscles, or specific skin areas. For hair and scalp: mix 5–10 drops in 30ml of carrier oil and massage gently into the scalp.

Bath Addition

Mix 8–10 drops of essential oil in a tablespoon of carrier oil or whole milk before adding to bath water. Never add undiluted essential oil directly to bath water, the oil will float on the surface and contact skin at full concentration. Lavender, lemongrass, and eucalyptus are particularly suited to bath use.
